Job Objective:

As the Office Assistant you will be responsible for all aspects of effectively running the programs and needs for The Salvation Army of Whitley County. This may include, but is not limited to entering data, working with clients, manning phone lines, ministering to individuals, and ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:

  • Answer phones
  • Enter data into SIMS
  • Assist clients in person with needs
  • Organize and sort donations
  • Document program statistics
  • Communicate between Program administer and community
  • Organize and communicate with volunteers
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma required

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Preferred background in office management and non-profit organizations. Willing to train right individual. Able to work in an office setting as well as independently on tasks assigned.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
  • Able to organize and oversee volunteers.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking
  • Committed to maintaining confidentiality
  • Willing to learn

Supervisory Responsibility: Only as directed by the Program Administrator/Office Manager.

Physical Requirements Include:

  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: Only as needed in specific situations or periods.

Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office environment; but may include some field work in the community for specific programs and/or needs.
