Summary The basic function of the Wiring Technician is to use electronic assembly tools to cut and terminate cable assemblies, populate, and test circuit boards, and program micro controllers. Properly following IPC-A-610G guidelines regarding electronics assembly is a must. Responsibilities
- Read the production schedule and determine what must be completed before end of day.
- Follow cable assembly bill of materials to pull parts.
- Determine how best to efficiently cut cable lengths.
- Use electronics assembly tools to cut, strip, and terminate cable assemblies.
- Use automatic crimping machine to terminate RJ11 connectors.
- Install electronic circuit boards in metal and plastic cases.
- Use computers to log electronic assemblies and program microcontrollers.
- Test and inspect cable and other electronic assemblies.
- Wears PPE always when using tools and equipment.
- Wear antistatic shoe harness and anti-static smock.
- Turn in labor time tickets daily.
- Periodically assist other departments with their job functions when directed by supervisor.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Must demonstrate the ability to properly handle and operate electronic assembly tools.
- Must have adequate hand strength for an 8-hour shift utilizing electronics hand tools.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
- Must be able to lift moderate weights.
- Must be able to work safely.
- Must have basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 of an inch.
- Must be able to pass random drug screens.
Education and Licensing
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of one year of related experience is preferred.
