Job Type TemporaryDescriptionPosition: Community ProgramsTeaching Assistant Department: Community ProgramsSupervisor: Abigail Montes - Interim Manager of Community Programs ( [email protected] ) Position Duration: Seasonal Courses (Oct - Dec, Jan - March, April - June) & Imagemakers (Sep - June)No. of Positions Available: Seasonal Courses (approx. 8 per semester), Imagemakers (1) Requested availability:In person placement for ICP Imagemakers (Manhattan, 79 Essex St):
  • Wednesdays 3:30-7:30pm and select Friday and Saturday workshops (various times) *Must be present at all Wednesday classes for the duration of the year-long program* (digital course)
In-person placements for ICP Teen Academy seasonal courses (Manhattan, 79 Essex St):
  • Saturdays 9:30am-1:30pm or 1:30-5:30pm (darkroom courses), or Sundays 9:30am-1:30pm (digital course)
Online placements for ICP Teen Academy:
  • Sundays 1:30-5:30pm
In-person placements for ICP at THE POINT seasonal courses (The Bronx, 940 Garrison Ave):
  • Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, 3:30-7:30pm (darkroom courses)
Online placements for ICP at THE POINT:
  • Tuesdays, 5:30-9:30pm
*Teen Academy and ICPaTP seasonal courses run for 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months), and teaching assistants must be able to attend each of the 10 classes* Teaching assistants are a vital part of our educational philosophy and an integral part of the teaching team. Teaching assistants assist lead instructors with all aspects of classroom management, curriculum implementation, cleanup and set-up, student processing, printing, and portfolio development (as applies to the particular program). Teaching assistants mentor class participants while benefiting from the mentorship of a seasoned photography instructor. This position is ideal for someone passionate about photography as a tool for social change, and who is interested in learning more about community arts programming and arts education. RequirementsIMPORTANT: Only currently enrolled One Year Certificate (OYC) students can apply to these positions. All applicants will be reviewed by the OYC program coordinator to ensure enrollment and eligibility.
