Up to 29 hours per week in the business week of Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two-year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty-three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.
This position is a restricted, part-time, non-benefit bearing administrative position. The Workforce Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Mountain Empire Community College's Workforce Coordinator and Center for Workforce and Innovation at Appalachia.
Responsibilities include: Working directly with students, faculty, and staff; preparing and maintaining class and faculty schedules; maintaining division and grant budgets; preparing adjunct contracts; developing and disseminating various reports; coordinating special events; and development of classroom set up for classes and events. This position is the front-facing, customer service position for the Appalachia workforce complex.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
* Detail-oriented with ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
* Must adhere to FERPA regulations and maintain confidentiality with student and business records.
* Exudes a professional demeanor to the public.
* Ability to work independently and reliably.
* Ability to coordinate multiple priorities for a busy office.
Minimum required qualifications:
* Extensive administrative/office experience which can be substituted with an Associate's degree in business, administrative services technology, general studies, or applicable degree.
* Must have a basic knowledge of accounting and budget maintenance.
* Demonstrated confidence and professionalism that includes punctuality, professional attire, dependability, and accountability.
* Strong written communication skills as demonstrated in the submitted cover letter, application package, and resume.
Additional Considerations

Previous experience working in an educational setting.
Experience working with a student information system.
