About this role Responsible for recruitment and outreach services for Vocational and Workforce programs. Conducts progressive program outreach and recruitment efforts to inform the public of the college's services. Develops and maintains community relationships and collaboration. Increases student enrollment and retention in vocational programs. Provides guidance on admissions requirements. This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.
What a day of a Workforce Program Specialist looks like: - Coordinates activities associated with recruitment and selection of students. Counsels students regarding their adaptability to a college environment.
- Qualifies, registers, and monitors students in recruitment and retention programs. This includes tracking and logging student attendance for clock-hour programs.
- Administers special orientations for student outreach programs. Assists with in-person and online information sessions.
- Presents college information to community schools and organizations regarding the College's degree program and certificate programs.
- Follows up with students post-graduation to track and maintain employment records.
- Develops and maintains positive relations with the community to promote College partnerships and collaboration. This may include working with various groups to bring diversity into the College.
- Advises students as to course of study, particular course offerings, necessary testing, and prerequisites. Assists students with program or course selections, assignments, scheduling, and placement.
- Coordinates and assists with the planning and implementation of student activities.
- Maintains current knowledge of field or profession. Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings, and professional events outside of college locations, as needed.
- Coordinates and administers one or more advising or career programs and events.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree
- One year of related experience
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Skilled in:
- Scheduling and coordinating apprenticeship programs
- Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to:
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
- Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
- Regular physical attendance required
- Must complete FERPA training within 30 days of employment
- Some periods throughout the year will require extended work hours including nights, weekends, and college closures
- Valid Florida driver's license
Work Environment and Physical Demand: - Reach and grasp objects
