NY1512022 Yard Attendant needed for Mohawk Valley Materials in Rome, NY.Pay rate is $24.00 - $29.00 per hour.Mohawk Valley Materials, Inc, a woman owned small business headquartered in Rome NY, is seeking a motivated, construction minded hands on Yard Attendant for our construction recycling center. MVM currently recycles construction debris, aggregates, soils, and waste wood, including stump grinding and recycling. We also sell a variety of products including mulch & topsoil and have recently installed a concrete plant to expand operations for our customers. If you have a passion for recycling, understand project management, are familiar with heavy and civil construction & concrete operations then we want to hear from you!While overseeing all yard operations you will develop and implement strategies to maximize productivity and profitability while building strong relationships with customers, management, and team members. Daily you will manage all incoming material and the inspection process, direct material to the correct drop area in the yard, document load size for inventory purposes and tipping fees. All outgoing material/sales must be processed properly through the POS system. You will monitor and analyze these processes and assist with developing key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying areas for enhancement and implementing effective solutions.The Yard Attendant must be available to open and close the yard Monday Friday during normal business hours and will be responsible for facilitating all yard activities safely, and according to company policy.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greets commercial and public customers in person and through telephone inquiries. Assesses loads (clean or dirty) and directs customers to appropriate areas for proper dumping. Responsible for identifying CRTs, E-Waste and any other Household Hazardous Waste to prevent any illegal dumping of material. Required to identify unwanted materials from incoming loads in a safe manner, without climbing inside or on to a customer vehicle. Any material identified as not acceptable must not be dumped. Monitor customers while dumping to ensure compliance with company disposal procedures. Directs customers to load area to receive material purchased. Coordinate concrete operations and sales. Operation of Point of Sale (POS) system for all customer sales; credit card or cash. Must maintain a clean working area, clean equipment as necessary and assist with basic preventative maintenance of all vehicles. Create management reports for all sales, recycling material received, inventory reports and manage current recycling contracts. Prepare a sales plan and contact potential customers to increase the volume of material managed through the recycling process. Must adhere to and follow all company safety policies, not limited to continual use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Will assist with coverage as a Heavy Equipment Operator when needed. Must maintain a current New York State Drivers License. Other work-related duties as assigned.Education and Experience 3 + years of recycling processing experience preferred. 3 + years of management experience preferred. 2 + years of Heavy Equipment Operation experience required. 2 + years of concrete experience Two-year degree preferred.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Familiarity with finances, business principles, and operations management. Experience with Microsoft Office products. Ability to direct traffic using standard hand signals. Knowledge of surrounding equipment operations, to work in a safe manner. Ability to promote effective protection of people and company property. Ability to exercise good time management. Must have good verbal communication skills.
