Yard Driver - NESCO Resource : Job Details

Nesco Resource is hiring for a 1st Shift Yard Driver in Claremont, NC.

The Yard Driver will be responsible for safely moving trailers and containers between dock doors, staging areas, and other parts of the yard or facility

This role requires attention to safety, and collaboration with the warehouse and dispatch teams to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate yard trucks to move trailers and containers within the facility's premises.
• Position trailers and containers in the proper dock locations for loading and unloading.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, dispatch, and other drivers to coordinate trailer movements.
• Keep accurate records
• Ensure trailers are properly secured and chocked before moving or parking.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard.
• Follow all company and safety policies and procedures, including adherence to safety regulations.
• Report any mechanical issues, safety hazards, or accidents immediately to the supervisor.
• Monitor and manage yard traffic flow to ensure efficient and safe operations.
• Assist with other warehouse duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license (CDL may be required in some positions).
• Proven experience operating yard trucks or similar heavy machinery is a plus.
• Knowledge of basic truck and trailer operations.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in tight spaces.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.).
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.
• Must be willing to lift, push and carry up to 50 pounds
• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Must be willing to be cross trained and moved to other areas as needed
