Title and Classification: Yard Duty Aide

Supervisor: Site Administrator

Terms of Employment: 10 months/year

Salary Range: Classified Salary Schedule -Range 105

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Site Administrator or designee, supervises playground and other areas as assigned. Encourages student activities that contribute toward the health and safety of the students while on the school playground, before school, recess, and during lunch period; and performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Be conscious of and working toward health and safety of the students on the playground.

* Be understanding, yet firm and consistent.

* Maintain discipline and carry out school policy concerning disciplinary measures.

* Have basic understanding of children's needs.

* Have the knowledge and ability to appreciate people.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Maintain discipline.

* Understand the school's policy concerning discipline.

* Present disciplinary cases to the Site Administrator or designee.

* Move about the playground or area assigned for the full period of time.

* Make sure your eyes are cast over the entire group of children to observe any abnormal activities that may be going on.

* Check the corners of the playground, buildings, and small groups of children who may be clustered.

* Be inquisitive; enter into the discussion to let students know you are affectionate and human.

* Always be consistent in your dealings with discipline.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITES:

ABILITY TO:

* Work at a desk, conference table, or on meeting of various configurations.

* Stand and circulate for extended periods of time.

* See for purposes of reading laws and codes, rules, policies and other printed matter, and observing students.

* Hear and understand speech at normal levels.

* Communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.

* Bend and twist, kneel and stoop, run and crawl.
