DEPARTMENT: Retail Store REPORTS TO: Yard Foreman FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt POSITION TYPE: Part-Time POSITION SUMMARY: The Lumber Yard worker is responsible for sorting and racking lumber according to grade markings and size. They often operate a forklift or Industrial truck to assist in moving and loading materials and products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide outstanding customer service Answers questions, identify and direct customers to building materials and merchandise in the lumber yard Load merchandise on to store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer Assist with unloading deliveries, as necessary Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and length Reads work order, invoice, or follows oral instructions to determine materials or containers needing moved and/or loaded Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner Operate forklift or industrial truck to assist in loading or moving merchandise and materials Complete daily forklift inspections Adhere to Loss Prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures Safety awareness of anything in store that may be hazard to employees or customers Effectively communicates customer issues and concerns to all applicable internal staff members Additional duties, as assigned REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong work ethic Forklift experience is preferred Ability to: - Read and comprehend simple verbal or written instructions
- Effectively communicate with customers, management, and co-workers
- Demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position
- Work in a fast-paced environment
