Summary of Position: As the Youth Action Board Coordinator, you will be pivotal in guiding and supporting diverse youth groups, ensuring their engagement and success within the program. You will interact positively with various stakeholders, fostering productive relationships and collaboration. Your role requires experience in group facilitation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Being detail-oriented, proficient in technology, and having strong writing and verbal communication skills would be best.A foundational understanding of systems change, including the theory of change, racial and gender equity, and youth development, is preferred. Familiarity with homelessness, particularly youth homelessness, and a general knowledge of Western North Carolina is advantageous but not required. Your approach will be informed by principles of positive youth development and Trauma-Informed Care, ensuring a supportive and effective environment for the youth you serve.Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience working with diverse youth groups
  • Highly able to positively interact with diverse stakeholders
  • Prefer some familiarity with systems change (theory of change), racial/gender equity, youth development
  • Detailed-oriented, technology proficient, able to work with minimal daily supervision
  • Group facilitation experience
  • Proficient writing skills and strong verbal communication skills
  • Some understanding of homelessness (youth preferred)
  • Prefer some familiarity with Western NC desired but not required
  • Knowledge of positive youth development
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Project Management, Business Administration, Social Work/Psychology) or a minimum of 5 years of related experienceCertification(s)/Licensure: NoneKey Responsibilities:
  • Youth Engagement: Facilitate and support diverse youth groups, ensuring their active participation and contribution to the Youth Action Board's initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Build and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders, including youth, community partners, and organizational leaders.
  • Group Facilitation: Lead and manage group meetings and activities, ensuring productive discussions and effective decision-making processes.
  • Project Management: Oversee daily operations of the Youth Action Board, including planning, organizing, and executing activities with minimal supervision.
  • Technology Utilization: Use technology tools effectively for communication, documentation, and project management tasks.
  • Communication: Prepare clear, well-organized written materials and deliver effective verbal presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge Application: Apply understanding of positive youth development and Trauma-Informed Care principles to create a supportive environment for youth involvement.
  • Systems Change and Equity: Utilize knowledge of systems change, racial and gender equity, and youth development to guide the Youth Action Board's strategies and goals.
  • Understanding of Homelessness: Incorporate insights into youth homelessness issues into program development and youth support strategies.
  • Regional Awareness: Leverage familiarity with Western North Carolina to tailor approaches and address local needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
