Additionally, the Trainer & Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for tracking training requirements and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the quality of care provided to adolescents in residential foster care programs by ensuring youth care workers are well-trained and compliant with regulatory requirements.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn-Service Training:Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for youth care workers, encompassing topics such as trauma-informed care, crisis intervention (including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention), behavior management, cultural competence, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all training programs align with the principles and practices of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), providing staff with the necessary skills to prevent and deescalate crises effectively.
  • Incorporate training modules specifically focused on the New York State Justice Center's regulations, reporting requirements, and protocols for safeguarding individuals with special needs, including adolescents in foster care.
  • Conduct training sessions using a variety of formats, including workshops, seminars, role-playing exercises, and case studies, to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs
. Collaborate with management to identify training needs and priorities based on program goals, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in adolescent care.
  • Utilize feedback and evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to youth care workers to reinforce learning and facilitate skill development
Position Requirements QUALIFICFATIONSBachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience in training and development, preferably in a human services or child welfare setting.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development, trauma-informed care principles, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), and best practices in residential care.
  • Certification as a TCI trainer highly desirable; ability to obtain TCI trainer certification if not already certified.
  • Familiarity with the New York State Justice Center regulations and reporting requirements preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and cultural competence in training delivery.
