Responsible for performing case management to assist youth in achieving academic and employment success through effective and comprehensive activities that improve educational and skill competencies and connections to employers. Remove barriers to active participation in education, training, and employment; Ensure ongoing mentoring opportunities with adults; Provide opportunities for training, career exploration, work experience, and employment; Provide incentives for recognition and achievement; Provide activities related to leadership development, financial planning, entrepreneurship, decision-making, citizenship, and community service.
Major ResponsibilitiesFTE Navigator duties include but are not limited to:
? Identifying and engaging with targeted youth through outreach, recruitment, assessment, eligibility determination, registration, and enrollment.
? Crafting personalized Individual Service Strategies (ISS), career pathways, and career plans for each youth, informed by objective assessments and designed to achieve employment and educational goals.
? Cultivating strong relationships by consistently spending time with youth, building rapport, and providing ongoing support.
? Collaborating with youth and service providers to troubleshoot challenges and assess the effectiveness of interventions.
? Advocating for and facilitating access to supportive services such as clothing, transportation, and personal hygiene products.
? Preparing youth for post-secondary education, training, and employment by offering basic and occupational skills development and work readiness training.
? Assisting youth in pursuing their high school equivalency credential through TASC instruction or alternative schooling, enabling their transition to employment or further education.
? Creating opportunities for work experiences or internships aligned with each youths career pathway, whether paid or unpaid, depending on funding availability.
? Developing on-the-job training (OJT) placements in collaboration with RWI, particularly for youth transitioning from TASC instruction, Alternative Schools, or high school.
? Ensuring the successful achievement of WIOA performance goals, outcomes, and measures.
? Utilizing the One Stop Operating System (OSOS) web-based New York State database system to manage registration, enrollment, service documentation, and WIOA performance tracking for eligible youth.
? Contributing to special projects and fulfilling other duties as required.
Qualifications
? Associate degree with two years experience in a related field or equivalent. Work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
? Experience in working with diverse populations in a fast-paced environment.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Proficiency in bi-lingual skills is a plus.
? Ability and flexibility to work at various hours.
? Develop effective working relationships and work well as a team to achieve organizational goals.
? Excellent time management skills and ability to complete paperwork and data maintenance on time.
? Proficient in MS Office.
? Knowledgeable regarding local occupational, educational, and labor market information.
