Job Description: Youth Director (Teen Ministry)
Status: Full time 40-55hrs/week, salaried. Range: $55k-$70k/year

PERSONAL CHARACTER:
The Youth Director must have a general pattern of life that aspires to meet the character qualifications of an elder in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. The Youth Director should be a consistent student of the Bible, maintain personal devotions, and work continually to develop spiritual and leadership abilities. They should be a self-starter and work joyfully and efficiently to accomplish all that is required in this weighty role. They should be in hearty agreement with the Grace Road Church Elders' affirmation of faith, including the positions on elder leadership, complementarian design, and reformed theology. They should be able to articulate the truths of the faith well, and have a missional mindset to develop a community of Christ followers on mission to spread a passion for Jesus.
PURPOSE STATEMENT/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Youth Director furthers the mission of Grace Road Church (Gospel, Community, Mission) through the leadership of the youth ministries.
KEY YOUTH MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Leadership: Strategize, create, and implement an action plan to develop a growing and vibrant ministry to youth including disciple-making, Bible study, musical worship, fellowship, evangelism, and outreach and missions. Recruit, equip, coach and supervise youth ministry volunteers and youth workers to support the vision of the youth ministry.
• Discipleship: Inspire teens and their families to know and follow Jesus while developing a Biblical worldview that promotes cultural discernment. Disciple and counsel teens through regular youth ministry gatherings, one-on-one connections, and group hangouts.
• Programming: Plan, coordinate, and lead Wednesday night youth gatherings, classes, and other events. Plan and coordinate youth retreats, missions trips, service projects, and local community ministry events.
• Relationships: Develop personal relationships with teens by creating a welcoming, fun and grace-filled youth ministry culture. Proactively welcome youth and their families at Grace Road worship services and other ministry events, aiming to help them become connected to the youth ministry and to body life at Grace Road.
As time and schedule permits, engage in teens' extra-curricular activities such as sporting events, musicals, etc. Foster relationships with adult members at Grace Road to develop a network of volunteers for the youth ministry.
• Parents: Develop relationships with parents to support their teens' faith formation. Encourage and resource parents and families of to be the primary spiritual disciplers of their teens.
• Communication: Create and oversee an effective informational network using email, social media and other methods to communicate events and opportunities to teens, their parents, and ministry volunteers.
• Finance: Prepare and submit yearly budget requests to the Finance Director. Administer the youth ministry budget within the established guidelines and in compliance with Grace Road Church policies and procedures.
• Safety: Ensure a safe (physically and emotionally) atmosphere for spiritual growth among youth. Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the youth ministry space. Ensure proper completion of background checks for all youth ministry volunteers prior to their participation.
ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• In addition to their key ministry responsibilities, all Grace Road staff members are expected to take initiative for other ministry work within the body at Grace Road Church.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Meet regularly with the Executive Pastor for coordination, coaching, equipping, and evaluation.
• Report on the status and development of the Youth Ministry to the Grace Road Elders as requested.
MINISTRY COMPETENCIES:
Must have ministry leadership experience in a church of 1000+ or youth ministry leadership experience in a group of 100+. Must be able to lead hired staff and a large group of volunteers.
