Maintains a safe environment for youth participation. Encourages safe behavior from spectators, coaches and participants by enforcing game rules. Promotes good sportsmanship. Works in conjunction with other HRCA staff members to resolve conflicts and provide customer service. Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of the Sports team Leader/Coordinator.May receive direction from Sports Programmer and On-site Supervisor. - Provides exceptional on-site customer service to promote and support HRCA recreational programs. Role-models professionalism in dress and direct customer service. Wears uniform while on duty.
- Ensures the safety of participants, spectators, staff, coaches, officials and scorekeepers by enforcing all policies and procedures behavior. Ensures the safety of participants, spectators, staff, coaches, and scorekeepers by enforcing game rules and procedures and by role modeling safe behavior.
- Promotes good sportsmanship by being consistent in calling the games and enforcing game rules fairly.
- Supports the Youth Sports On-site Supervisor in upholding and enforcing league rules and completing game reports.
- Maintains a professional, calm approach when handling conflict. Looks to the Youth Sports On-site Supervisor for direction to ensure that HRCA procedures are followed when incidents occur during game situations.
- Assists with incident reports as required. Informs supervisor of all incidents, complaints and unfavorable situations immediately.
- Performs related duties as assigned and required.
Physical and Environmental Standards: Most work is performed indoors in a busy setting where noise and interruptions prevail. Must be able to frequently walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, push or pull. Manual dexterity is needed to type, write and use a scoreboard remote. The ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication is needed. Vision requirements include near and far acuity. Upper body strength is a requisite to lift/move a maximum of 40 pounds unassisted and 60 pounds with assistance. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have strong knowledge of rules for specific sport assigned to. Must show ability to maintain control of game situations. Must be dependable and reliable. Requires bending, pushing/pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling and climbing to perform tasks normally associated with this position. Must be a minimum of 15 years of age (16 preferred) for youth sports.
