Work is performed under general supervision. Checks and maintains security and safety of residents/participants on a continual basis. Responds to emergency situations that may occur including escape and suicide attempts, drug overdose, intoxicated youth, etc. Physically restrains residents/participants if necessary. Supervises dependent, neglected, or delinquent youth during the late evening and early morning hours (third shift). Awakens residents, supervises showers and dispenses medication as needed. Admits new residents including interviewing youth, parents and officer or caseworker to obtain needed information. Records behavior observations and keeps daily reports and resident's/participants personal records. Performs record keeping, statistics and other paperwork as required. Drives van or other designated vehicle to transport program participants. Supervises program activities as required. Performs light maintenance tasks as required. Enforces rules consistently and fairly. Promotes, encourages and supports appropriate behavior. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Applicants must have one of the following: Associate degree in Human Services or related field and at least 1 year of experience in the care, counseling, and management of delinquent adolescents OR At least 3 years of experience in the care, counseling, and management of delinquent adolescents Additional Requirements: Must meet requirements and licensing regulations, including good health evidenced by the ability to pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of hire; a person who has a record of a criminal conviction or founded child abuse report shall not be employed, unless an evaluation concludes that the crime or founded abuse does not merit prohibition of employment. Certifications required after hire are: Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting, Medication Dispensing, CPR, Mandt, Prison Rape Elimination Act and Gentle Self Defense Training. Regular work attendance required. Must remain awake and aware of surroundings at all times. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday | 3 - 11:30 p.m. Wednesday | 5:30 - 11:30 p.m. (Thursday, Friday off)
