Requirements

Client has a vacancy for a z/OS Systems Programmer whose primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ongoing maintenance (install, patching, upgrades, administration, etc.) of the mainframe z/OS operating system, accompanying storage systems, and systems software products (e.g., database, transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services.
  • Upgrades of mainframe and related storage.
  • Providing production off hour coverage (if necessary) and supporting periodic weekend implementations.

    • Experience / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with VTAM and TCP/IP.
  • 10+ years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD, and basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system and Unix System Services.
  • Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing is a plus.
  • Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.
  • Experience working with an enterprise-wide, large scale implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer consultant.

    • Education: Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience in a relevant technical field is required.
