Responsible for the operation, programming and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system.
- Responsible for operating irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
- Maintain and repair the irrigation system, which includes the distribution lines, valve, heads, controllers, hydraulic control system, fertigation system, all pump stations; raise heads and trim around them as needed.
- Inspect the various components of the irrigation system daily to insure that they are operating properly; drag dew as needed.
- Responsible for drainage projects and other related work as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents.
- Report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent.
- Executes the irrigation program as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent/Director.
- Waters greens, tees and fairways.
- Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.
- Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
- Maintains equipment and in compliance with county, state and federal regulations.
- Perform safe mechanical operation and calibration of equipment.
- Must be able to safely operate a golf cart.
- Inspect all areas of property to determine irrigation needs.
- Follow policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties and/or tasks as directed by Management.
Education and experience
- High school diploma and/or equivalent preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and of various types of pumps and pumping systems required.
- Must be able to handle and use manual tools such as weedeaters, flymos, rakes, shovels, spreaders and similar tools.
- Must be able to walk extensively, as well as, sit or stand for extended periods of time while performing job functions.
- Must be able to stoop at the knees, bend at the waist, and have a complete dexterity of arms and legs to perform tasks in cramped or awkward positions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be able and willing to take directions.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and coordinate and complete tasks with limited supervision.
- Must be a self-starter and eager to learn.
- Must be able to recognize and solve problems.
- Must possess time management skills.
- Must maintain high performance standards.
- Knowledge of irrigation components, processes, and equipment.
