The ESL instructor will be responsible for developing curriculum in reading, writing, civics, listening and speaking to prepare language learners for opportunities in workforce training, post-secondary or employment. Classes will incorporate basic computer skills and use of educational software programs. This position will also include assisting in administering national assessments and to utilize the assessments to create curriculum. This position allows for expansion in opportunities for new classroom and curriculum ideas. A degree in education or TESOL certification is preferred including experience working with the ESL population. This is a full time position.POSITION SUMMARY:The English as Second Language (ESL) Instructor is responsible for providing Basic English language instruction to non-English speaking adults. Responsibilities include student assessment, curriculum development, group presentations, individual tutoring, monitoring of student online activity and evaluation of student progress.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree with major or minor in education, English, language studies or related field
- One year of experience in language instruction
- Familiar with utilizing online instructional programs. Rosetta Stone program preferred
- Valid elementary or secondary Michigan Teaching Certificate or related instructional certificate program preferred
- Possession of a valid driver's license and have access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance
