Position Type: Custodial/Food Service/CustodianDate Posted: 10/16/2024Location: Newington Public SchoolDate Available: ImmediatelyWork in the lovely seacoast town of Newington, New Hampshire at the Newington Public School in a great tight-knit community. Collaborate with and learn under the tutelage of a veteran building administrator and the SAU 50 central office. Potential for future growth for the right candidate. Monday through Friday (roughly between 12pm-5pm) hours of work negotiable. Ideal candidates will have experience performing custodial duties in an educational setting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: All associates may be considered for cross-training; some may be assigned duties in one or more areas at administrative discretion. General responsibilities for all positions include, but are not limited to: Present a calm demeanor, especially around students. Work effectively with supervisors and co-workers. Under the direct supervision of the Building Administrator and Director of Facilities. Performs general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary Clean and maintain the exterior and interior areas of the school including walkways, cafeteria, restrooms and lobby as needed. Perform daily custodial duties as necessary, including but not limited to vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing restroom fixtures, spreading salt on sidewalks, etc. Perform daily stocking and maintenance duties. Ability to work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Follow all procedures to ensure a safe work environment, as well as the safety of our students. Follow instructions on safe use of all chemicals/cleaning materials. Maintain regular personal attendance for all scheduled shifts. Help with custodial daily deliveries as needed. Adjustments of heating controls when specified perform boiler checks as requested by their building supervisors Minor repairs when necessary and possible Maintaining of security of the building or buildings during regular working hours and on special occasions as scheduled by supervisor Reporting to supervisor of any problem in areas assigned - custodial or maintenance Check all doors and windows, when school is not in session or use, for security reasons, answer all alarms or other emergencies when called by the appropriate officials, report any problems to supervisor immediately when security problems exist Setting up necessary equipment for special events when requested to do so Minimum Job Requirements: Requirements to be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation: Standing, walking, lifting, twisting, and bending on a frequent basis. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry it up to 90 feet (or deposit into a dumpster). JOB SUMMARY: -To provide and maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment for students and staff. QUALIFICATIONS: -High School Diploma or equivalent -Must pass a background check REPORTS TO: -Director of Facilities and Principal RESPONSIBILITIES: -Perform general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building. -Perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance. -Assist in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and cafeteria. -Work with cleaning chemicals and be able to use and ensure safety of self and other when using. -Perform grounds maintenance. -Ensure heating and cooling systems are operational. -Maintain a neat and orderly janitor room; ensure cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked. -Assist in examining the school for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to the head custodian, principal, and/or the Facilities Manager. -Keep school clean and orderly. -Interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at the school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous. -Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Custodian and/or Principal.
