SummaryLOCATION: Houghton Lake and Roscommon Pharmacy - Outpatient/ Retail LocationsFollowing a training period, the Pharmacy Technician should be able to process prescriptions on the computer, use cash register, fill prescriptions, answer phone, order and receive medications.Responsibilities(40%)* Fills and prepare new and refill prescriptions for final verification by pharmacist. This includes calculating days supply, quantity, and dose, determining 340b eligibility, and working with nurses and providers to assist the pharmacist in the clarifying prescriptions.(20%)* Pull medications, order medications, and restock the department. This will require conducting frequent and accurate inventory counts and making purchasing decisions on medications based upon par levels and anticipated future needs. Purchase and receive medications utilizing the appropriate software programs and methods. Ensure that all supplies (labels, bottles etc.) are adequately stocked to meet patient needs. Knowledge and understanding of the 340b program is required and all policies and procedures regarding 340b will be followed at all times.(20%)* Greet customers and assist them at the register. Collect prescription co-payment via the cash register and point-of-sale software. Assist customers with questions regarding copayments and payment history on prescriptions.(20%)* Maintain OTC area, including but not limited to; ordering, stocking, updating prices, checking outdates, and maintaining.Certifications and Licensures

- Equivalent Experience: New hire and transfers before October 1, 2015 must possess a full technician license or limited pharmacy license through the state of Michigan. Effective October 1, 2015, all incumbents, new hires and transfers to this position must possess a pharmacy technician temporary, limited or full license through the state of Michigan Individuals with a temporary license must obtain a full license through the state of Michigan within 365 days of obtaining the temporary license.
Required EducationEducation: High School Diploma or GEDOther InformationOTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Answer phone and faxes.Request prescription refills from providers.Compound oral and topical solutions, ointments, and creams if ordered.Order supplies using appropriate system.Answer questions from nursing, case management, physicians, and patients regarding co-payment and prescription costs.Be knowledgeable of MMCHS Medical Care Discount and work closely with clinic support staff to ensure patient eligibility .Remove and return recalled drugs from physical inventory when appropriate.Other duties as assigned.Equivalent Experience and Other Comments (Education)EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:Computer experience required.
