Req Number 131202Job DescriptionPART TIME (18.75HRS/WK) 7AM - 3PMPerforms selected diagnostic tests and prescribed treatments. Provides patients with assistance in performing the activities of daily living. Assists health care team in ensuring patients safety.Job ResponsibilityProvides patients with assistance in performing the activities of daily livingProvides equipment/supplies for and appropriately assists patients with oral and personal hygienePrepares patients for meals/ snacks/ liquids and assists with feeding, as needed.Assists in health care team's physical/psychological assessment of patientAccurately measures and records patient's TPR, blood pressure, height, weight, intake/output and bowel movement, as appropriateCollects required specimens; e.g., urine, feces, sputumReports any observable changes in patient's condition, treatment results, and/or patient/family concerns to the registered professional nurse.Performs selected diagnostic tests and prescribed treatments consistent with established procedures under supervision of registered nurseApplies simple dressingsDiscontinues intravenous peripheral therapiesPerforms electrode application and EKGObtains accucheck results and informs nurseAssists with the insertion of Foley cathetersCleanses pressure injuriesRemoves foley catheters according to established procedureCorrectly applies buck traction to patientAssists patients with elimination, as required, e.gbedpans, urinals or enemas.Participates in health care team's responsibility to assure patient safetyPromptly responds to any patient's call bell and/or emergency lightRecognizes unsafe acts/conditions and corrects and/or reports same, as appropriateDemonstrates appropriate use of side rails, restraints, gerichair and appropriately positions patientsAppropriately transports patientsAppropriately responds to fire, evacuation, and internal/external emergencies and drills.Functions effectively within organizational structureAccepts assignment and seeks clarification, as neededCarries out assignmentReports patient care observations and findings to RN regularly.Participates as an integral part of the nursing team in assuming additional duties and responsibilitiesMaintains competence by attending in-service education programs.Performs related duties, as required.*ADA Essential FunctionsHigh School Diploma or equivalent, required. Completion of a Nursing Assistant Course, required. Heart Saver Certification, preferred. Minimum of two (2) years direct patient care experience. Excellent communication skills.
