Job Description:Description of Department: Facilities Services, Major Projects manages the capital projects for SUNY Oswego. In coordination with state agencies such as the New York State Construction Fund (SUCF) and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY). Click here for more information.Date of Appointment: As soon as possibleDescription of Responsibilities:The Project Coordinator (PC) is a valued member of the Facilities Services, Major Projects Team and is primarily responsible for overseeing all Academic or all Dormitory capital projects. Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Facilities Services and the supervision of the Assistant Directors of Major Projects, The PC carries out a variety of highly technical assignments to aid in the delivery of these capital projects as related to the planning and implementation of construction.The PC performs a wide range of administrative and professional duties to ensure the seamless flow of project coordination including scope, schedule, and budget as it relates to the management of the capital construction activities. These duties require a high level of expertise in project management and thorough knowledge of building and site work projects. A background in commercial construction building systems including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services is required.Project Coordinator Functions:* Is familiar with the project's contractual information and assists purchasing with procurement.* Ensures that the working interrelationships for all team members are effective and efficient for the timely completion of projects.* Assists the project team in efficiently and effectively orchestrating,* guiding, and controlling the construction process relating to Academic/Dormitory campus* capital project activities.* Will interface with the campus community, inform strategic personnel of project details, communicate possible impacts, and coordinate any required outages.* Establishes a professional cross-functional relationship with other campus departments including, but not limited to: Maintenance & Operations, Sustainability, Environmental Health & Safety, Custodial, Campus Technology Services, and Purchasing; as well as external agencies such as the Dormitory Authority and the State University Construction Fund.* Will develop procedures, specifications, and standards to be utilized for campus construction contract activities. These will be shared and vetted with those cross-functional teams throughout the campus and abroad.* Will initiate design inclusive of: drawings, specifications and/or cost estimates for construction activities through the use of RFQs, Bids, Terms, or Purchase Order Requisitions as needed.* With the Major Projects Team, the review of the consultant's work is continual. This includes the effectiveness and constructability of design, review of submittals and RFI's, and the quality of installation which is monitored as part of the construction process.* Address questions and provide clarifications relative to contract documents as needed.* Perform on-site observations of projects under construction and monitor the quality of* design and construction work performed by architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and* sub-contractors.* Monitors for proficient construction supervision and inspects projects for safety and quality.* Attends project meetings and prepare reports. Establish methods to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and within quality standards.* Performs independent, in-depth, investigations of specific problems providing analysis and* recommendations. Develops and/or reviews technical reports and field surveys as needed.* Acts as a problem solver by researching and developing technical data necessary to* resolve complex design and construction problems.* Working knowledge of building codes. Aids in determining code compliance and consults with code enforcement agencies regarding interpretation and application.* Review contractor documentation including requests for information, payment requests, change* orders, and assist with project closeout activities.* Assists in the administrative and project management duties relative to the daily financial* Management of the project.* Possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
