Job Title: Systems Administrator Salary Grade: 16 Division/Department: Court Operations/Information Services Salary: Commensurate with experience Reports To: Network Manager Date Posted: 8/9/24 FLSA Status: Exempt Last Revised: 8/9/24 Benefits of Employment Insurance: Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision, Life and an Employee Assistance Program. Paid Time Off: Twelve (12) holidays, vacation time (after 6 months) of three (3) weeks per year for the first eight (8) years of service, and sick time. Job Summary The Systems Administrator builds, deploys, and supports all server environment related technologies, upgrades systems to current releases, initiates and maintains security measures, and supervises the help desk to assist end-users with technical support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. Assists the network manager in planning, implementing, and maintaining the local area network and wide area network; and provides end-user support for desktop applications. Builds, deploys, and supports all IT server environment related technologies including but not limited to hardware, software, process workflows, cloud technologies, and security related functions; diagnoses and drives incident management both internally and with vendors; upgrades systems to current releases; administers incident related documentation; assists and educates end users on the use and best practices of the technology; manages and resolves server related support tickets; inputs details of the resolution or observation of the ticket; forwards support tickets to higher level support, if needed; supports end user related technologies as needed. Provides computer software and technical support and assistance to end-users. (e.g. installs and maintains software and associated hardware systems, troubleshoots problems with software programs or supporting hardware and makes or initiates corrections; initiates and maintains security measures; publishes procedural manuals, reports, graphs, charts, etc. to present programs and other information; may conduct software training sessions for department employees). Examines department software systems and makes recommendations (e.g. examines department's software and hardware needs and recommends new purchases to supervisor; makes recommendations to enhance software and hardware performance, evaluates software releases from vendors and tests packages before installation). Performs miscellaneous administrative duties (e.g. responds to questions, complaints and requests for information; reads and reviews various trade publications; composes and prepares routine correspondence; provides non-computer related assistance such as proof reading, answering telephones, etc.). Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Has supervisory accountability for other employees, volunteers, or interns. Plans, directs and coordinates activities for a unit. Duties may include scheduling and assigning of work, training in all facets of work, quality control, and decisions impacting the pay, status and tenure of others. Conducts performance evaluations, provides input into and participates in discipline, dismissal, and hiring processes, and is accountable for editing timecards in Kronos for assigned staff. Equipment Operated Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones. Confidential Data All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility. Working Conditions Works in a general office setting with moderate noise levels. Usual Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to operate a variety of automated office machines and equipment. Ability to use and interpret computer hardware and software terminology and language. Ability to communicate effectively with end-users, managers, supervisors, County Information Services Center employees, other County employees, and vendors. Ability to comprehend computer periodicals, specifications, proposals, invoices, and manuals. Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow instructions. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with two (2) years of end user IT technologies or general PC maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience where 1 year of education = 2 years of experience.
