Job DetailsJob Location Mandaela Community (South Bronx) - Bronx, NY Position Type Full-Time Non-Exempt Salary Range $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly DescriptionTitle: Residential Aide Unit: Mandaela Housing Reports to: Manager, Residential Aides Status: Regular; Non-Exempt Salary: $20.00 an hour Location: South Bronx, NY Days/Hours: Schedule to be determined Position Summary: Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for Residents, Staff and guests of The Academy/Castle Gardens. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist and monitor all residents and guests entering and leaving the building;
- Assists residents with basic health and safety protocols, including developing a therapeutic relationship with them and provide general assistance.
- Document all activities in the communication logbook;
- Report and Document all incidents according to agency protocol promptly
- Create incident report before leaving the shift and email to supervisor
- Regularly complete rounds of residential floors and administrative offices; ensuring a secure and safe building
- Submit maintenance work order requests in Sprocket (online work order system)
- Promptly report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader or Director of Residential Aides
- Intervene in crisis situations and provide appropriate support when necessary; administers first-aid as needed
- Responsible for mail/package collection and distribution
- Assist with monitoring curfew compliance and adherence to program regulations. Document activities in the logbook and inform the Team Leader or Director of Residential Aides of any problems or concerns;
- Conduct an orientation to the building for all residents (i.e. emergency exits, procedures for trash removal, laundry, etc.);
- Conducts regular safety and wellness checks on residents; take toxicology screenings of residents and document results;
- May be required to document progress in accordance with established procedures.
- Co-facilitate AM and PM groups;
- Monitor security cameras; typically reports to a Team Leader or Director of Residential Aides.
- Other duties as assigned
QualificationsQualifications:
- High school diploma or GED/HSE or related experience;
- Experience working in an institutional setting and/or providing security services;
- Certified in CPR and First Aide a plus. Will be required to obtain CPR and First Aide Certification after employment; Certification in safety and basic health training (i.e. Mental Health First Aid, First Aid and CPR) is a main requirement and can be completed within the first 90 days.
- Have or eligible for F80/F02 Fire Safety Certification.
- 0-2 years' experience in security, or equivalent required.
- Comfortable with computer-based data entry and using Microsoft Office;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent judgment and conflict resolution skills;

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to Long Island City office for meetings or trainings and/or to other sites to provide coverage in cases of staff call-outs.
