Job Description Summary: Working with their Finance Service Team, performs a variety of financial and budgeting activities supporting projects within a division's portfolio, covering both pre-award and post-award activities for the division. Prepares financial reports and basic analysis to support project budget preparation and projection. Reconciles monthly financial statements and monitors project activity balances to ensure conformance to budget and/or other award compliance requirements. Contacts departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems. Inputs and verifies data and maintains databases. Reconciles monthly financial reports. Works with their Finance Service Team to provide the services needed and to support an environment of collaboration, communication, and teamwork.
Applying general professional knowledge and principles of finance, incumbent performs duties requiring the identification and analysis of various factors and independent judgment and discretion to recommend the best course of action. The primary duties are directly related to activities supporting the financial oversight, regulatory and contractual compliance of programs or projects. Incumbent proceeds on own initiative in compliance with policies, procedures, and practices, but receives guidance or expertise from supervisor or higher-level staff on more complex matters.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of basic accounting and financial principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and Smartsheet desired. Ability to solve problems using selection and application of rules, procedures, and precedents. Ability to use appreciable latitude for independent judgment and action. Must be reliable. Strong work ethic. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to be proactive and follow up. Strong attention to detail and highly organized. Ability to manage and maintain privileged, sensitive, and confidential information and matters appropriately. Ability to work successfully in a team environment. Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other National Academies' departments through effective communication. Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent knowledge.
Minimum Experience: One year of related professional experience.
Physical Capabilities: Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Reports to Manager/Director. Sets objectives with supervisor.
Compensation Range: The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine support equity, fairness, and transparency in our compensation programs. An estimated compensation range for this position is $56,410 - $70,510. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters. Note it is not typical for a candidate to be hired at the higher end of the range.
Work Environment: Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment expected onsite percentage 40%, with occasional travel between National Academies' facilities and to off-site locations.
