Salary: Depends on Qualifications Location : Main Campus - Portales, NM Job Type: Full time permanent Job Number: 2024-00163 Department: Student Affairs Division: Financial Aid Opening Date: 08/20/2024 Position OverviewPosition Summary Under limited supervision, will be responsible for providing responsible secretarial and administrative support while exercising independent judgment and tact for the financial aid office. RequirementsDuties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform responsible secretarial and administrative duties while exercising independent judgment
  • Operate personal computer to enter data, compile and type reports, prepare letters and general correspondence
  • Monitor departmental budget and perform routine record keeping duties
  • Organize and maintain office files including confidential materials
  • Prepare detailed schedules, contracts, lists and materials for distribution
  • Sort, screen, and distribute mail
  • Supervise student employees
  • Review completed work for compliance with University and office policies and procedures
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent certificate and a minimum of one-year experience directly related to the duties specified is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to perform routine and moderately complex clerical tasks rapidly and accurately
  • Skill in the use of standard office equipment
  • Ability to understand and convey procedures and regulations established
  • Ability to perform basic bookkeeping procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Skill in word processing and data entry
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Working ConditionsPhysical Demand and Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed inside during regular working hours
  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Retirement Eastern New Mexico University participates with the , , and Paid Time Off During the first year of service, full time non-exempt (hourly) employees accrue 7 hours of annual leave and 7 hours of medical leave per month. During the second year of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of medical leave per month. During the third and subsequent years of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month. Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave. Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees. Temporary employees do not accrue leave. Employee Educational Assistance Plan Eastern New Mexico University offers a tuition waiver for regular employees and retirees. This program waives the tuition for one course (up to four credit hours) per semester.
