Position Description

The Field Services Technician role in the Technical Services Division of the Office of Court Management provides essential day-to-day desktop and technical support for several Harris County court divisions and the Office of Court Management. This position covers desktop, printer, and A/V troubleshooting, along with back-end technology support for various hardware and software solutions. In addition to technical responsibilities, the role includes project participation and non-technical support tasks.

The Mission of the Office of Court Management is to assist Harris County and Justice Courts in their ability to provide a forum for the fair, impartial, accessible, and timely resolution of cases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Respond to help desk tickets and provide remote and hands-on technical support to court technology users, including judges, court staff, and administrative offices.

* Diagnose and resolve issues with computers, printers, scanners, A/V systems, and other peripherals in a timely and effective manner.

* Manage software, hardware, and peripheral installations, as well as perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting across a large IT environment.

* Image and support workstations across multiple locations using both in-person and remote deployment tools.

* Closely collaborate within the Information Technology team to ensure seamless user support and maintain optimal system performance.

* Perform basic administration in Active Directory, including management of users, groups, computers, and organizational units.

* Assist in developing budget forecasts for future equipment needs, replacement cycles, and other service requirements.

* Research and present innovative IT support solutions that enhance operations within the court's technology environment.

* Serve as a liaison between court users and third-party service providers to resolve a variety of support calls, including non-technical issues.

* Provide hands-on assistance in large-scale deployments, including equipment setup, cabling, and configuration.

* Support audio/video system setup and troubleshooting for courtrooms during and in preparation for trials and hearings.

* Plan, coordinate, and manage A/V technology projects and associated training tailored to the court environment.

* Interface with external teams to oversee network hardware and software maintenance, facilities services, and telecommunications needs.

* Contribute to the development, testing, and execution of the IT department's disaster recovery plans to ensure continuity of operations.

Requirements

All applicants must register and take the HRRM Clerical Skills Test and score a minimum of 75%.

Education and Experience:

* Associates degree in a related field from an accredited university.

OR

* Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the field of Information Technology support.

* To qualify for this position, required experience, education and skills must be clearly stated on your application's employment history.

Licensure:

* Valid Texas driver's license. (upon hire)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Strong collaborative skills with a focus on teamwork and customer service.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 11 and Microsoft Office products.

* Basic familiarity with Windows Server products.

* In-depth desktop support troubleshooting expertise.

* Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking.

* Experience with endpoint security tools and device management platforms like KACE.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

* Physical ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds and/or move boxes and equipment as needed.

* Subject to kneeling, crouching, handling, climbing, walking, sitting, twisting and reaching to perform the essential functions.

* Will need to occasionally report to an off-campus worksite.

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
