Role Summary: The Payroll Manager reports to and works closely with the Vice President of Payroll. This position will manage all activities of the payroll function as well as other responsibilities, including a leadership and oversight role within the Payroll Unit. The Payroll Manager will manage, mentor, and train the other payroll team members. Responsibilities: • The Payroll Manager will lead the team and payroll processing for both hourly and salary employees and ensure the payroll goes out on time. • Manage payroll controls, perform audits and reconciliations of payroll data and audit. • Manage the day-to-day payroll operations ensuring accurate and prompt processing of monthly, bi-weekly, and ad hoc payroll. • Set up new Payroll Earnings and Deductions Codes • Ensure that employee adjustments for wage garnishments, child support, levies, etc. are processed properly and prompt. • Assist in timesheet audits. • Interact with employees and all levels of management on payroll related projects and inquiries. • Partner with Accounting team to ensure accurate general ledger reporting and reconciliations. • Enter and manage cases in UKG community from start to close. • Function as point of escalation and work to identify, track, document, and resolve payroll errors and issues. • Ensures payroll processes are administered in compliance with internal company policies as well as applicable tax legislation, including applicable wage and hour regulations. • Own month-end close, quarter-end and year-end payroll processes and related tax reconciliations • Builds confidence in dealing with the business and knowledge of more in-depth tasks, developing the ability to take on more complex analyses and builds relationships to ensure achievement of Mutual of America's strategy and objectives. • Performs analysis, research and/or conduct projects as requested by Corporate Finance management. • Responds to ad-hoc requests to address new business processes, policies and procedures, etc. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree • Minimum of five years related experience. • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to meet stringent deadlines. • Strong diligence when reviewing payroll data. • Flexible; able to perform and deliver excellent results under high pressure. • Ability to operate independently and have the strong desire to work as a member of a team. • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, as well as detail and results orientation • GL Account reconciliation experience • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, Vlookup, etc.) • An analytical mind with good math skills • Effective communication skills Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in finance and accounting • UKG experience • Working knowledge of multi-state taxation What we offer you: • Competitive base salary • Annual Bonus • Comprehensive Benefits Package (medical, dental, and vision) that starts day one of employment. • 401(k) Match: You will be eligible to receive up to 9% of your pay (salary and incentive compensation) in Company contributions. The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this role. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, whereby total compensation may exceed this range depending on individual and / or company performance.
