Keeping focused on our core values, we strive each day to ensure that our residents remain connected and purposeful.GENERAL PURPOSE: Administer or assist residents to self-administer medications and treatments, measure weight and vital signs, and perform other health services tasks. Adhere to home health, hospice, and emergency protocols. RESPONSIBILITIES:All responsibilities are to be performed within scope of practice per state or provincial regulations.
  • Administer or assist residents to self-administer medications and treatments.
  • Measure weight and vital signs.
  • Collect, store, and ensure transport of certain specimens for laboratory studies.
  • Adhere to all medication room systems per policy.
  • Implement physician orders.
  • Ensure physician orders, laboratory reports, and other data is scanned and filed in resident chart.
  • Document pertinent information in Nursing Notes and elsewhere per policy (e.g., incident reports).
  • Communicate with Director of Wellness.
  • Adhere to home health and hospice protocols.
  • Adhere to emergency protocols, including performing CPR and administering first aid as necessary.
  • Promote and adhere to service plans, informing Director of Wellness of suggestions to improve current resident needs and preferences as well as successful service approaches.
  • Observe for and report resident problems as listed in Observation and Reporting sections of Nurse/Medication Attendant Resource or in service plans) and report such problems to Nurse/Director of Wellness.
  • Read Communication Log at beginning of each shift; enter pertinent information in Communication Log by end of each shift.
  • Read Shift Change Notes at beginning of each shift; enter pertinent information in Shift Change Notes by end of each shift.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Director of Wellness.
OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adhere to all community policies and procedures.
  • Maintain resident, team member, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other team members as necessary).
  • Perform all assigned work for the agreed-upon wage, accepting no additional payment or gifts from residents, vendors, or others.
  • Adhere to dress/appearance code; changes in attire may be permitted for special circumstances as directed by supervisor.
  • Promote resident advocacy and demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Serve as a role model for other team members by displaying a responsible, cooperative, respectful, and positive attitude.
  • Represent the community in the community at large in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform duties under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Attend education and training classes as required by state or provincial regulations.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Meet state or provincial health related requirements.
  • Maintain current professional license if CNA/LPN/LVN.
  • Maintain current medication assistant related certification as required by state or provincial regulations if Medication Assistant.
  • Maintain current CPR certification if CNA/LPN/LVN.
  • Obtain/maintain current CPR and first aid certification if Medication Attendant.
  • Maintain any other certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical Demands include: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching, Pushing, Pulling, Climbing Stairs, Grasping, Manual Dexterity, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Vision Acuity, Talking, and Hearing. The weight determined to be appropriate for a Medication Attendant to lift with or without reasonable accommodations is up to 50 lbs. EXPOSURE RISK CLASSIFICATION: May perform unplanned tasks involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue which may contain AIDS, HIV, and Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses.
