Supervised by: VP of Finance/CFOSupervision provided to: Sr. Staff Accountant, Accountant, Accounts Payable ClerksPosition Summary/ObjectiveManage and lead the establishment and monitoring of proper controls to ensure the accuracy, consistency and privacy of company financial record keeping. Oversee financial processes and procedures using the most cost effective methods. Develop and present financial reporting of results to support decision making by Executive Management and the Board of Directors. Essential Functions1. Develop and present financial statements and various financial analyses and prepare account reconciliations. Ensure the accuracy of financial data to support sound decision making by Executive Management. Meet required deadlines for reporting and projects.2. Consistently evaluate processes and internal controls to safeguard the accuracy, consistency, and security of the data used in financial reporting. Conduct periodic fiscal audits. 3. Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.4. Maintain accurate and complete fiscal records in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Remain up to date on changes to laws, regulations, and professional standards5. Timely respond to customer inquiries regarding their Accounts Receivable (A/R) and stock. Establish requirements for the proper accounting of Shareholder investment levels and shares and the refund excess stock savings. Set up weekly electronic fund transfers (efts).6. Create rebate schedules and reporting as well as monthly dividends. Ensure dividends are applied to past due accounts. Compile year-end dividends for 1099. Calculate, compile and report appropriate Tax Notices to customers.7. Oversee Value Specialty Pharmacy and other subsidiaries accounting review and approval.8. Respond to inquiries from salesmen on the status of new and current customers.9. Utilize computer systems to manage financial data in cooperation with the IT Department.10. Supervise staff in the performance of job duties, assign work, conduct performance reviews, approve time off requests, and train as needed. Handle employee relations issues and collaborate with Human Resources as needed.11. Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, also by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.12. Manage non-routine requests from Executive Management and other managers.13. Develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and managers.14. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in an office environment.CompetenciesAccounting knowledge, attention to detail, problem identification and problem solving, fiscal analysis, strategic thinking, written and oral communication proficiency, time management, supervisory skills, collaboration skills, budgeting, computer skills, use of software applications, email, use of an adding machine and other office machines, and telephone skills. Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position oversees the work activities of the Sr. Staff Accountants, the Accountant, and Accounts Payable Clerks. TravelWork-related travel is limited primarily for training but other travel may be required of the position. Required Education and ExperienceBachelor of Science degree in Accounting.Preferred Education and Experience5 years of experience in all aspects of corporate accounting and reporting.
