Overview: FPM Remediations, Inc. is currently seeking to fill a full time Mid-Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist position at its Oneida, NY office. This is an excellent career advancement opportunity for an individual with 5 - 8 years of relevant professional experienceto join a team of dedicated and knowledgeable environmental professionals. This position will provide an opportunity to apply the latest technologies to conduct field investigations and remediate contaminated sites across the country for our clients. Primary Responsibilities: The position will support projects at locations around the United States. Responsibilities will include:
  • Technical coordination and quality of field work and the production of technical planning documents and reports.
  • Participating in field programs that include the collection of soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and air samples.
  • Overseeing and monitoring the work of subcontractors including drill rig crews, surveyors, construction crews, and remediation work
  • Supporting preparation of technical reports, which may include importing electronic laboratory data reports into FPM's and clients' data management systems.
  • Evaluating data quality and usability.
  • Preparing written reports of field activities, observations, and findings and preparing graphics and figures of results.
  • Contactor management.
  • Providing analysis and interpretations of findings based on scientific experimentation and existing knowledge.
  • Participating in identifying viable remedial solutions consistent with all federal, state, and local regulations
Supervisory Responsibilities: Will supervise and support teams involved with field work and document production. Education and/or Experience: The Mid-Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist will have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an environmental science and/or environmental engineering, with a preferred focus on geology, and coursework in chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in the field of environmental investigation and remediation, implementing environmental remedial actions, and overseeing construction.
  • 40 HR OSHA Hazwoper.
  • Prior experience working on Department of Defense projects is a major plus (e.g. USACE, AFCEC, NAVFAC)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to participate in safety training and follow company safety standards
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Desire to work as part of a team
  • Supporting remediation system operation and maintenance (OM&M) activities
  • Performing hydrogeological assessments regarding groundwater flows to identify contamination impact and related concerns
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze chemistry and environmental data
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations
  • GIS experience is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications with extensive experience in Excel are preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A professional certification, registration, or license in their respective field is a plus.
