This is a full-time, year round opprotunity with excellent pay and benefits. PAY RANGE INFORMATION: Entry range $24.00 - $26.45, depending on experience. Based on a maximum of 7 years' experience, This is a full-time, year round position, (233 work days), based on school schedule. Generally, Mon-Friday, with early morning and late afternoon shifts. JOB SUMMARY: Work as a team member under supervision of the Lead Custodian. Must have the ability to maintain a high quality of work. Must be flexible and have the ability to work under pressure and deadlines. Ability to work varous shifts as needed. Works closely with building administration and school team to ensure school cleanliness. JOB GOAL: To maintain buildings and grounds to provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment for the staff and students PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Keep buildings and grounds clean and neat at all times.
  • Unlock and check school in the morning (if assigned to morning shift). Secure all doors and windows at the end of the school day (if assigned to afternoon or evening shift).
  • Sweep, scrub, mop, extract carpet, vacuum carpet and polish floors.
  • Wash windows, screens, sills, woodwork, doors and walls.
  • Clean, disinfect and restock restrooms.
  • Clean and disinfect all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
  • Provide for the security of the building, supplies, and equipment. Report any unusual circumstances, theft or vandalism or suspicious to his/her supervisor.
  • Clean chalkboards, dry erase boards, empty trash, remove recyclable items, etcetera.
  • Turn off all lights when not in use. Change light bulbs /fluorescent tubes when necessary
  • Remove snow and ice from all pedestrian areas including steps and walks. Distribute traction material when necessary.
  • Conform to schedules as established by Principal.
  • Act at all times in a manner appropriate to a school environment including appropriate clothing and clean appearance.
  • Perform energy conservation procedures as directed.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Perform and record safety, maintenance and other inspections as directed.
  • Provide services related to special event setup including relocation of furniture, equipment and audio-visual setup as directed by supervisor.
  • Scrape, sand and paint as directed by supervisor.
  • Assist outside contractors, vendors and maintenance personnel as required.
  • Provide information in a friendly and courteous manner whenever requested.
  • Relocates/ move furniture, equipment and supplies as required and or requested by supervisor.
  • Provide security checks and unlock /lockup as directed by supervisor.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as requested by supervisor.
  • Assist in grounds care and maintenance as directed by supervisor.
  • Notify Lead Custodian in writing all conditions that are or that may become safety or
  • health hazards including work related activities. Request in writing safety equipment that may be necessary to job performance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintain custodial equipment, receive and stock equipment related to custodial work.
  • Inventory supplies, receive and stock supplies related to custodial work.
  • Assist in maintaining the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) sheet system.
  • Make recommendations to the Lead Custodian on scheduling coordination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience required.
  • Ability to read and write at a level necessary to be successful in job performance; understand MSDS and chemical mixture levels, and safety responsibilities
  • Valid Colorado driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • General knowledge of office computer and equipment such as email, and timeclock
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff and visitors.
  • Physically capable to perform custodial duties on a daily basis. These daily duties include but are not limited to:
    • Ability to lift items weighing 30 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet.
    • Ability to operate vacuum cleaners, commercial floor cleaner/buffer, carpet cleaners and snow blower equipment.
    • Manual snow shoveling.
    • Setting up and climbing extension ladders to an elevation of twenty feet.
    • Scraping sanding and painting using a variety of paint chemicals.
    • Manually scrubbing floors and walls with a variety of chemicals and disinfectants.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time and capable of frequent pushing, pulling, squatting and reaching.
    • Sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to measure, weigh, and combine chemical ingredients per manufacturer's written instructions.
    • Ability of withstanding exposure to the outdoor elements including extreme cold, extreme heat, rain, snow and other mountain climatic conditions.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and Board of Education. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process. Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spread sheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology. Other Skills And Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures.
