It's who we are. I. Job Summary:Provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment for the people of Weinberg Campus in a considerate manner. Performs routine repairs; assists other maintenance staff with more complex projects; and preventive maintenance; casualty prevention and all life safety and health codes and keep records.II. Primary Job Duties:
- Maintains communications with Department Heads, Supervisors and Floor Leaders.
- Plans, organizes and completes maintenance duties in area of responsibility.
- Utilizes computerized maintenance systems to complete corrective, project, preventative and casualty prevention work requests.
- Prioritize work, maintains inventory in area of responsibility necessary for completing repairs and physical plant operations.
- Proper storage and disposal of flammable materials; chemicals and lubricants, maintaining labels and MSDS.
- Performs repairs of health care facilities furniture, equipment and building maintenance; kitchen equipment; interprets instructions and reads blueprints.
- Performs outside tasks such as snow removal and grounds maintenance; performs projects such as minor cementing, plastering, and plumbing; installs carpeting, floor tile, etc.
- Understands emergency electric systems, nurse call and communication systems, smoke/fire detection, containment, extinguisher and alarm signal system, responds to all fire alarms.
- Responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies involving residents and co-workers safety.
- Follows standards and record keeping according to state and local life safety and health codes.
- Utilizes personal protective safety equipment and safe work habits.
III. Other Job Duties:
- Performs daily rounds; as assigned, completes preventive maintenance on a monthly basis to include kitchen equipment, cleaning ice machine filters, etc.
- Completes casualty prevention inspections to include checking fire extinguisher's monthly; sprinkler drop tests; emergency generator tests; provides on-call maintenance coverage as assigned, maintains tools and equipment; performs other duties as required.
IV. Job Skills: Must be able to properly use general building and maintenance tools such as:
- Skill Saw
- Band Saw
- Table Saw
- Grinders
- Screw drivers, hammers, wrenches, and all other types of routine maintenance equipment
- Amp meter and other diagnostic tools
- A variety of ladders including vertical ladders
- Must have a general understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and be able to properly apply the techniques.
V. Job Specifications:Education: High School Diploma or GED required preferably with vocational courses. License/Certification:Experience:Three (3) years experience in building trades preferred, five (5) years experience in a general maintenance position required. Ability to read and write English. Health Care experience preferred. VI. Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver's license, and own or have access to a motor vehicle which would permit the employee to report to work as needed or required for on-call situations.
- Must be able to pass physical examination after being offered employment and annually thereafter.
- Physical requirements include the following:
- Safely lifts and move items up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats, kneels, crawls, climbs stairs, reaches above, at or below shoulder level
- Frequently walks
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
