Job Title: Data Engineer / Google Cloud Platform Developer (AI/ML Focus) Location: Greater Washington, DC Area (On-site 3 days per week) Position Type: Full-time Experience Level: 2-10 years Job Description: We are seeking a talented and dynamic Data Engineer / Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Developer to join our team, focusing on software development and AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning) capabilities. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, leveraging cloud technologies and machine learning techniques to support cutting-edge solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about data engineering and AI/ML to make a meaningful impact on the organization's cloud and data strategy. The role is primarily on-site for 3 days per week in the Greater Washington, DC area, with flexibility to work remotely the remainder of the week. Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Dataproc. Develop and deploy machine learning models on GCP, leveraging tools such as AI Platform, TensorFlow, AutoML, and Vertex AI. Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement innovative solutions for data processing, analytics, and AI/ML projects. Implement data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes to handle structured and unstructured data sources. Ensure data quality, reliability, and compliance with security best practices. Collaborate on the design and development of APIs for data access and model integration. Optimize cloud-based infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering, AI/ML, and cloud computing. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. High-caliber recent graduates will be considered. 2-5 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or cloud infrastructure. GCP experience is highly preferred. Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Go for data processing and machine learning workflows. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases for querying and managing large datasets. Hands-on experience with GCP services (BigQuery, Dataflow, AI Platform, etc.). Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or scikit-learn. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with deploying machine learning models in production environments. Knowledge of MLOps practices for monitoring, retraining, and maintaining AI/ML models. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform). Certification in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.
