Position Summary:
MEP/FP Design Engineer:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced DESIGN engineer to contribute to NYC's most visible and prestigious structures: JFK, LaGuardia & Newark Airports; GWB, Goethals & Bayonne Bridges; Lincoln & Holland Tunnels; and more!
Full-time, exceptional compensation and benefits. Five-year project. Services will be performed at the Port Authority of NY & NJ's (client) offices at 4 World Trade Center, NYC. After three months, you may qualify for three days per week in-person and two days per week work-from-home at the client's (PANYNJ) discretion.
THIS IS A DESIGN ROLE. THIS ROLE IS NOT :
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certification. American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) and NY State Professional Engineer (PE) License.
2. Design skills. A minimum of five to ten (5-10) years of plumbing and fire protection DESIGN experience, with in-depth knowledge of:
3. Computer skills. Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM, and other computer-based office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.2. Strong, technical, first-hand, detailed DESIGN experience utilizing the NY and NJ Building Codes, Plumbing Codes, and Fire Codes. Experience with PANYNJ Design Guidelines is favorable.
4. Building Code skills. Strong, technical, first-hand, detailed DESIGN experience utilizing the NY and NJ Building Codes, Plumbing Codes, and Fire Codes. Experience with PANYNJ Design Guidelines is favorable.
5. Fire protection systems. Lead the design and specification coordination of the following fire protection systems:
6. Calculations. Evaluate and lead the creation of fire protection calculations, including the hydraulic analysis of fire water supply and demand, battery calculations, and voltage drop calculations.
7. Final Design. Extensive experience preparing Final Design contract documents, including:
8. Basis of Design. Experience preparing Basis of Design documents as guides to preparation of final design contract documents for design-bid-build efforts and basic contract documents for design-build efforts.
9. Submittals/shop drawings. Experience reviewing submittals/shop drawings and other Stage IV activities including Post-Award Contract Changes (PACCs) and answering RFIs.
10. Coordination. Ability to coordinate with support disciplines such as Electrical, Civil, Structural, Architectural, Environmental, Geotechnical, Electronics, Traffic, and Resilience and Sustainability.
11. Education. Candidate shall have a Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering, fire protection engineering, or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university.
