Job Description:Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)Education and experience sufficient for the needs of the position. Examples may include a High School/GED and five years of full-time related work experience of related experience in relatedfield. Associate's degree in Outdoor Education or a related field and two years of full-time work experience. Bachelor's Degree in Outdoor Education or related field and one year of full-time work experience or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position. Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: knowledge of a wide array of outdoor activities and the gear associated with them. Must possess a strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational skills, general office skills (filing, typing, answering the phone, customer oriented and attention to detail); excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, work independently towards established goals and deadlines.Welcoming. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate's skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.Position anticipated to close on September 11, 2024 or until filled.Minimum Qualifications:Essential Duties
  • Individuals must always provide exceptional customer service.
  • Coordinate the issue, de-issue, and maintenance of outdoor equipment. Including, but not limited to, organizing, clean up, storing, repair, laundry and inventory.
  • Must be able to process transaction and maintain waivers and contracts for all transactions within outdoor gear rentals.
  • Capable of performing all reception duties: data entry, receiving and relay telephone messages, file, copy, and receive payments.
  • Must have a working understanding of all gear being rented and understanding of how to relay gear information to patrons.
  • Must be physically capable of assisting patrons in gear loading and removal to and from personal vehicles if applicable.
  • Handle of the renting out/checking in process for all gear to students and instructors.
  • Support the delivery of the CMC mission and educational framework.
  • Handle all logistical details, preparations, and support for multiple courses at once.
  • Consistently strive to give and receive feedback with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Adhere to all local operating procedures, safety policies and emergency procedures outlined in the policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic equipment repair if instructed.
  • Manage the ordering of new or replacement gear.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervision ReceivedThis position will report to the Assistant Dean of Instruction over Outdoor Studies as well as supports the lead Faculty or Director Outdoor Studies.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibility.Job ComplexityThis position works within specific guidelines but determines how work is performed.Special Conditions of EmploymentSuccessful completion of a background check including motor vehicles records check is required. May require travel within the college district, altered work schedule and/or occasional evening/weekend hours. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.Working Conditions This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. CMC is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
