Summary of Position: Assumes responsibility for performing clerical, direct patient care activities and continuous telemetry monitoring, under the supervision of Director and/or designee, thus enabling the professional staff to devote more time to direct patient care. Demonstrates a commitment to a team approach as evidenced by supportive, positive attitude and communication pattern. Uses a cooperative and collaborative approach to ensure comprehensive care to patients. Primary Job Responsibilities: Responds to patient/family requests (tells patient/family what to expect, when and why; informs patient/family when problems arise). Monitors telemetry and immediately reports any changes in EKG rhythms to Telemetry Unit and/or ICU Registered Nurse. Documents rhythm strips accurately. Collects physical, social and emotional data on patients; documents and communicates pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team. Uses clinical equipment accurately and correctly when needed to perform basic patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique. Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of growth and development to provide age specific treatment and care. Initiates appropriate intervention immediately in a crisis/emergent situation. Performs basic computer functions including but not limited to entering patient information and providers orders timely and accurately. Demonstrates computer literacy through accurate scheduling of tests, consults and treatments. Accurately completes all forms and records for patient care procedures. Maintains a tracking system of each patient receiving and disseminating all incoming and outgoing communications for the department. Maintains an appropriate inventory of supplies. Submits appropriate work orders, orders supplies, internal and external special orders. Stock rooms, specialty carts, code carts, IV trays and cabinets. Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate/GED. At least one year of clinical hands on experience preferred. EKG course with demonstrated competency required once hired. Salary Range: $18.54 - $30.44 Pay Grade: PC3 Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to: overall experience and qualifications, shift, and location.
