DescriptionLocation: King Cove AK, Port Moller AK, Dillingham AK Terms: Seasonal Salary/Rate: $17.15 per hour with additional overtime available at $25.73 Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and must be authorized to work in the United States Job Description: Processors can be assigned to various positions within the production department including, but not limited to, butchering, sorting, filleting, and case-up. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, undeserved places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Essential Functions:
- Cleans, scraps, trims and fillets product;
- Opens and removes raw materials and places on belts;
- Segregates product on conveyor belt or table according to grade, color, and size, and places product in containers or on designated conveyors;
- Roe basket gathering, weighing and tally;
- Discards substandard or defective items and foreign objects;
- Packs product in baskets, cans, boxes, barrels, totes or crates for storage or shipment;
- Operates equipment's to move or packed seafood products from place to place;
- Reviews workspace for cleanliness and safety;
- Facility clean-up;
- Qualified operators may Operates Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift/Pallet Jack) for product transport;
- Other duties as assigned;
Capabilities: Ability to perform the physical demands including; standing in place for long periods of time; repetitive motions using hands, arms, legs and back; regularly lift and move 50 lbs.; frequent rotations and twisting and bending at waist; climbing and descending of stairs; working long hours in cold, wet environments and prompt and regular attendance. Hours can vary from no hours to 16 hours 7 days a week depending on the fish coming through the plant and the production schedule. Education/Experience: Previous seafoods experienced is a plus, we also welcome employees with no prior experience or training Special Training/Skills: Ability to read, write and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to speak simple sentences. Ability to do basic math like, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with 10's and 100's. Able to perform the job operations using the units of measurement, weight, volume, and distance. Physical Demands: Employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms for long period of time. Employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear, if hearing is impaired, employee will be place in a position with clear communication to other employees. Employee must be capable to lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color to identify defects in food products, distance vision and depth perception. Mental Activities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills. Able to handle routine fast-paced work environment.
