Job Title: General Manager Location: Brewton, ALA small foundry and machine shop in the south is looking for a general manager. Brewton is located on the Alabama/Florida line. The location provides for the perfect small-town life and access to the beautiful white sand beaches of Florida only an hour away. A short drive brings you to Pensacola, FL which offers all the amenities you could want in a big city, from restaurants, shopping malls and an abundance of family activities. The weather in south Alabama is warm year-round. Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our manufacturing company specializing in cast iron products. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations, ensuring efficient production, quality control, and overall business success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving operational excellence.Job Duties:The core strength of our business is our dedicated employees. The foundry currently pours 6000 pounds per day but needs to increase to 12,000 pounds per day to meet demand and delivery requirements. Pour weights range from 25 pounds to 750 pounds. It has 60 employees. It also has a conventional and CNC machine shop that are well managed. Some experience in running a machine shop is desired but not necessary. The successful candidate must be skilled in green sand, nobake and metallurgical control and problem solving. They must be innovative in increasing production, training and motivational techniques. It is imperative they be capable of developing, designing and implementing new metrics and reports for production and process control. They will have to coordinate and lead teams of multi-disciplined salaried and hourly personnel and develop efficient and effective management and organizational structure. Will be responsible for ensuring that employees are meeting performance objectives, developing high potential employees for subsequent roles, and or succession planning within the Plant. They will have full P&L responsibility. They must be able to forecast and maintain operational and capital budgets to realize adequate return on investment and maintain budget controls through communication and corrective action to remedy variances. They must have excellent communication skills both with their employees and with the corporate management.In addition, they should understand all aspects of environmental testing, permitting and reporting as well as OSHA requirements. The foundry, grinding, pattern shop, machine shops, inside sales, and office staff all report to this position. Qualifications:They should have four-year college degree in industrial management, mechanical engineering, or related degree at a minimum, or 15-20 years of experience in a foundry atmosphere with at least five years in upper management, including P & L. A proven track record of success in both profitability and problem solving is required. Metallurgical knowledge related to steel, copper, nickel, and cobalt alloys would be beneficial.
