Job Description :

MKCI is a comprehensive defense litigation firm with a proven track record of successfully defending clients in high-stakes cases across various general liability and product liability/toxic tort matters. Although our attorneys are skilled in handling diverse legal matters, our expertise lies in litigating complex cases related to product liability (including asbestos and talc claims), premises liability, transportation, public entities, construction defects, labor law, insurance coverage, environmental issues, sexual abuse, and cases under the Child Victims Act.

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Attorneys to join our dynamic team in our Buffalo, New York office. Successful candidates will play a pivotal role in our litigation department, handling complex disputes, developing defense strategy, and providing strategic solutions. This position involves client interaction, court appearances, and working alongside recognized leaders in insurance defense litigation, and offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development within a supportive and collegial environment. All legal professionals at MKCI are trained to utilize the latest AI technologies for legal research and litigation assistance from case intake through trial.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
  • Attend depositions and court appearances and argue motions
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in legal matters
  • Collaborate with colleagues on case strategy and management
  • Participate in client meetings, prepare case analysis reports, and provide effective and strategic legal advice to clients
  • Management of a caseload of complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Assist in the preparation of cases for trial
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Stay current on changes in the law and legal precedents

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice in the State of New York
  • 1 to 7 years of experience - compensation commensurate with experience
  • Previous Civil Defense Litigation experience preferred
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong worth ethic and commitment to client service
