Are you enthusiastic and true go-getter? Do you have sales and marketing experience in long-term care? Then this opportunity might be perfect for YOU! We are looking for an Admissions Director to lead all aspects of the admissions process within our skilled nursing facility. The Admissions Director will act as a liaison to the nursing unit to help ensure a smooth transition with the admissions process for all residents. Requirements of the Admissions Director:
  • Long-Term Care experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Medicare requirements and insurance providers is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as must be willing to handle residents, staff, and visitors, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. AA or BA in health-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a health care facility.
  • Working knowledge of referral management systems is preferred.
  • Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
Admissions Director Purpose: The primary purpose of the Admissions Director position is to establish referral sources and to obtain required information and admit residents in an efficient manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor. As the Admissions Director you must be delegated to the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Responsibilities of the Admissions Director:
  • Receive and follow work schedule or instructions from your Supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in interviewing residents, guardians, sponsors, and obtaining required admission information and signatures.
  • Admit and prepare identification records for residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate record of available beds.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the Facility.
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of all departmental personnel including the Facility's receptionists.
  • Provide receptionists and other subordinate departmental personnel with direction and counseling, as necessary.
  • Provide discipline and evaluations of assigned receptionists and departmental personnel in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Facility.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for probationary and annual employee performance evaluations for the Facility's receptionists and other departmental personnel. Prepare probationary and annual employee performance evaluations for the Facility's receptionists and other departmental personnel. Meet with the Facility's receptionists and other departmental personnel to review performance.
  • The Admissions Director will provide residents with admission information packet (e.g., resident rights, notice of privacy practices, admissions contract, etc.). Review as necessary.
  • Obtain the resident or guardian's signature on all required permits, releases, authorizations, etc.
  • Assure that work or assignment areas are clean and records, files, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
  • Assist in developing procedures to ensure records are properly completed before filing.
  • Collect, assemble, and check admission papers. Forward to appropriate department.
  • Forward completed medical records to the Health Information or Medical Records Department as appropriate.
  • Notify nursing service when the resident has arrived at the Facility to assure that a member of the nursing staff escorts the resident to his/her assigned room.
  • Review and explain the resident, and/or guardian, room rates, billing procedures, visitors or guest privileges, restrictions, resident care procedures, etc., as appropriate.
  • Notify nursing service and call for assistance, as necessary, if resident is disturbed or violent upon admission or if resident shows symptoms of infectious or communicable disease.
  • Keep abreast of current Medicare or Medicaid regulations governing admission and discharge requirements of health care facilities.
  • Assist the MDS Coordinator in scheduling resident assessments.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary to assure that the needs of the Facility are met.
  • Conduct tours and initiate application for admission (demographic, clinical, and financial data).
  • Additional job duties assigned as related to this position.
