Job Description :

Marshall Farms Cage Repair Technician is directly responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy animal environment by inspecting, repairing and maintaining as needed to the animal housing enclosures as directed by the Supervisor Cage Construction/Repair. Duties Include:

  • Primary enclosure (cage) maintenance
  • Performs routine cage repairs to meet safety requirements, USDA and AALAC regulations.
  • Moves animals when necessary, using proper handling techniques in order to perform needed repairs.
  • Identifies needed pen repairs and makes corrections. This will include maintaining feed systems associated with caging.
  • Assists in fabricating and preparing cage parts for repairs and new construction.
  • Assists with assembly of new caging as needed.
  • Augur feed.
  • Ensures that all entry and biosecurity procedures are followed
Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED Competency Requirements: individual is capable of effectively and consistently performing essential tasks, must be capable of understanding and following all safety requirements, as well as USDA and AALAC regulations for animal living space. Leadership Requirements: Individual will contribute to a productive and professional environment by setting a positive example and demonstrating enthusiasm, diligence, and ethical behavior and by taking responsibility for ones' actions and challenging oneself to continually improve. Work Conditions: Conditions are often hot and humid, with frequent animal contact. Duties are performed primarily on 1st shift with varying extended hours including occasional weekend work. Physical Requirement: Work is physically demanding with a requirement to lift animals. Job duties may be performed while wearing personal protective equipment. Position requires operation of motorized buggy. Must be able to operate equipment to accomplish necessary tasks. Ex: payloader, forklift, dog moving vehicles, tools related to cage fabrication Mental Requirement: Individual is capable of effectively receiving, understanding and applying written and oral instructions.
