Job Description :

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Shift: 1:00 P.M. - 9:30 P.M.

  • Keeps buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
  • Can lift 70lbs or greater if needed.
  • Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.
  • Performs such year keeping chores as grass cuttings, tree trimming, and like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
  • Shovels, plows and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
  • Regulates, heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
  • Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
  • Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
  • Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.
  • Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  • Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
  • Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
  • Cleans all chalkboards at least once a week.
  • Makes such minor building repairs as he is capable of.
  • Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Maintenance Director.
  • Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his attendance required by principal.
  • Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the buildings each day of school and determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK AND HAVE A LETTER, PROVIDED BY THE INDIVIDUAL, FROM THE CABINET FOR HEALTH AND FAMILY SERVICES STATING THE EMPLOYEE IS CLEAR TO HIRE BASED ON NO FINDINGS OF SUBSTANTIATED CHILD ABUSE OR NEGLECT FOUND THROUGH A BACKGROUND CHECK OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT RECORDS MAINTAINED BY THE CABINET FOR HEALTH AND FAMILY SERVICES AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
