JOB TITLE: Forklift Operator DEPARTMENT:Shipping REPORTS TO: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor CLASSIFICATION:Non-Exempt LOCATION: Pleasant Prairie, WI SUMMARY: The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift/ reach truck to accomplish various materials handling assignments. Performs a combination of tasks including but not limited to receiving, filling, shipping, and inspecting orders accurately and in a timely manner; efficiently and safely loads, unloads, and conveys materials. Various levels of skill are indicated below. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas.
- Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
- Applies to the understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
- Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
- Reports any problems with materials or transportation to the supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS and LEVEL SETTING: Level One Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate reach trucks, and other equipment as required,
- Perform physical inventory requests
- Printing and labeling SAP Tags Properly
- Proficient at RF Scan gun
- Material Transfers in SAP
- Freezer put away in SAP
- Cover Pack-off
- Basic proficiency in SAP
- Basic math, language, and reading skills.
Level Two Qualifications:
- Intermediate SAP proficiency
- Loading and unloading of trailers
- Identify and complete incoming damages report, including photos
- Verify exports are loaded and verify proper documentation
Level Three Qualifications:
- Ability to cover cooler/freezer, including down stocking meat slots and verifying physical counts
- Adherence to FIFO standards and rotations
- Expert SAP proficiency
- Knowledge of grinding department
- Identify and complete incoming damages report, including photos
- Verify exports are loaded and verify proper documentation
- Train and lead lower-level forklift operators
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
- Must be able to move and lift to a 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
