C-Store Maintenance Associate Job Description Position Summary: The Store Maintenance Associate (SMA) is responsible for interior and exterior maintenance, cleanliness and safety. The SMA is a dedicated resource within the store team and is responsible for executing facility related programs in compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines and ensuring the store's cleaning and maintenance standards are consistently met. The SMA ensures an exceptional customer experience for all patrons. Principal Duties: 1. Greet customers and provide an enjoyable shopping experience for all customers. 2. Ensure the execution of all facility programs including building and equipment maintenance and inspection, maintaining supplies and interior/exterior housekeeping. 3. Ensure execution of established safety, security and store operations policies, procedures and practices. To perform the essential functions of a Store Maintenance Associate, the associate must perform all duties listed below: 1. Complete indoor housekeeping functions including cleaning, dusting, mopping and emptying trash in all areas of the store. Work with a variety of cleaning supplies and chemicals. Some housekeeping functions will require the use of a ladder. 2. Complete outdoor housekeeping functions (using outdoor power equipment) including cleaning, power washing, sweeping, picking up and emptying trash, shoveling and keeping sidewalks/parking lot safe. Work with a variety of cleaning supplies and chemicals, salt, spill absorbents, etc. 3. Maintain and trim grass area around building and parking lot. Must be able operate a push lawn mower, string trimmer, and blower. 4. Perform daily and weekly restroom cleaning. 5. Work in cold box and/or freezer for extended periods of time in temperatures around or below freezing. Stack, lift, move, and empty filled crates. Use a ladder when stocking higher shelves. 6. Execute all aspects of the store trash program including emptying interior and exterior cans, compacting, bailing and organizing and maintaining the trash room, totes and/or compound. 7. Inspect the tag and gauge on fire extinguishers. 8. Perform the following physical behaviors frequently throughout their shift: standing, walking, handling, reaching horizontally, reaching above the shoulder, reaching below waist bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, pushing, grasping firmly and pushing buttons. 9. Occasionally lift, carry, push and/or pull weights up to 50 lbs. 10. Frequently lift, carry, push and/or pull weights of approximately 5-20 lbs. 11. Must be able to adapt to abrupt temperature changes when moving from one environment to another. 12. Ensure execution of established safety, security, and store operations policies, procedures and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other available publications. 13. Ensure compliance with the corporate signage program. This may include climbing and balancing on a ladder. 14. Provide a pleasant shopping experience for all customers and respond to customer requests in a timely fashion. 15. Communicate with store manager regarding facility issues and concerns. 16. Ensure the inspection and correction of equipment repair needs and enter repair request as needed. Perform a daily check by manually inspecting of nozzles, hoses, vapor recovery, spill bucket and other components in the fuel court to ensure safe working conditions. Log information. 17. Perform a weekly test of pumps to ensure proper fuel flow. Pump gas into a container and use a stopwatch simultaneously to calculate the speed of flow. 18. Wipe down the fuel area (pumps, trash, valets) with cleaning chemicals. Restock all fuel area supplies and products. 19. Replace receipt paper and ensure that credit card payment area has not been tampered with. Log the credit card check daily via computer. 20. Inspect and wipe down the air pump with cleaning chemicals. 21. Clear oil and gas spills in accordance with all safety standards. Properly dispose of hazardous material and document clean up in gasoline compliance binder when applicable. 22. Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by store management 23. Lead by example by acting safely at all times and prevent others around you from acting in an unsafe manner. 24. Use appropriate personal protective equipment as required. 25. Operate LP Gas filling facility. Duties include filling LP Gas cylinders and RV storage tanks according to company standards while adhering to established safety policies and procedures.
