Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Director, Business Development who provides significant business development expertise and actively promotes new business initiatives on behalf of Applied Composites' market pursuits. Maintains primary responsibility for new business opportunities and oversees all phases of business development to ensure business and financial strategic objectives are attained. The ideal candidate will have established relationships with major aerospace defense primes.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Creates the business plan and sales strategy designed to grow the segment through new products, applications, and clients.
  • Provides significant business development expertise to actively promote new business initiatives on behalf of Applied Composites' market pursuits.
  • Implements new business opportunities and oversees all phases of business development.
  • Ensures business and financial strategic goals are attained.
  • Plans, facilitates and/or establishes high-value contracts for solutions and/or services to produce revenue.
  • Attracts value propositions for strategic opportunities in a specific industry, or other defined market segment.
  • Maintains effective customer relationships with key senior-level decision makers, aligning the customer's requirements with the organization's solutions.
  • Uses specific marketing strategies and media (i.e., social media, internet, press, television, radio) to launch and position products and services in a sector.
  • Creates proposals in accordance with company bid & proposal management process and authority matrix of approval.
  • Defines orders and sales targets, within agreed expenditures as defined through the budget and forecasting process.
  • Designs, develops, and implements marketing programs and/or pricing strategies to support the organization's products, services, or market sector.
  • Analyzes strengths and opportunities relative to competing organizations and develops a strategic counterplan.
  • Responsible for hiring and terminating subordinate employees (or effectively recommending such decisions), handling employee complaints and grievances, mentoring, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees, performance appraisals, assigning work among employees, and providing for the safety and security of the employees.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specifications: Education: Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations. Years' Experience: 10 years or more of relevant experience. Skills:

  • Significant business development expertise with complex products that produce revenue in line with organization targets.
  • Proven consultative selling skills to develop attractive value propositions.
  • Strong leadership and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, taking a new perspective on existing solutions and exercising judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Ability to initiate and develop key relationships and interfaces.
  • Able to execute functional business plans and contribute to the development of the functional strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication, presentation, and facilitator skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and database management tools.
  • Possesses a positive professional image and a high level of ethical behavior in exercising consistent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in all interactions and matters of significance.
  • Possesses excellent judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
  • Possesses excellent leadership, team building, and managerial skills with the ability to direct, energize, motivate, train, coach, assess, evaluate and develop teams.
  • Possesses strong strategic/analytical, goal setting, budgetary management, and financial measurement skills.
  • Capable of driving change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results.
  • Possess superior organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under conditions of multiple and/or competing projects/deadlines, prioritizing/reprioritizing as needed to meet departmental and/or business commitments and objectives.
  • Possesses a high degree of personal accountability.
  • Ability to travel to all Applied Composites locations and/or client locations as needed.
