Job Description

As a Director of Sales, you will be responsible for providing support to the hotel/sales department. You will selectively sell group business in corporate, SMERF, government, and association markets in the interest of maximizing guest rooms, food and beverage & spa revenue focusing on short/long-term large corporate accounts and industry relationships.

As a Director of Sales you will:

  • Achieve established production goals (monthly, quarterly, yearly).
  • Solicit convention customers from the assigned association/corporate markets. Follow up on all leads generated through National Sales Organizations, telemarketing, referrals, convention CVB, Chambers, and repeat business.
  • Maintain all sales systems, such as sales records and reports, event calendar, traces of history and potentials.
  • Design new programs and sales campaigns to develop additional sales from the various market niches.
  • Identify and analyze competition, both locally and regionally.
  • Uphold the contracted agreement between the hotel and the group.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with surrounding resorts for overflow opportunities.
  • Plan and participate in sales trips, training, and industry-related meetings as directed by Sr. Director of Sales.
  • Participate in departmental sales meetings, relevant operational meetings, and pre-cons as needed.
  • Participate in public relations, promotional projects, or any special projects or tradeshows as required.
  • Assist in implementing procedures set forth by the Sr. Director of Leisure Sales. Offer insight and suggestions on the best approach to accomplishing these procedures.
  • Assist in developing SOPs for all Westgate Resorts nationally to assist operation teams in facilitating group business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow Sales & Marketing plans.
  • Planning services include but are not limited to, guest rooms, catering, audio-visual sales, meetings, and food and beverage activities as well as the coordination of any special requirements.
  • Coordinate and execute all aspects of event arrangements necessary to ensure client objectives and expectations are met.
  • Assist and negotiate with clients in menu planning, beverage requirements, room set-up, audio-visual, décor, detailing, and securing services of outside vendors.
  • Confirm times, function space requirement, expected attendance, and other pertinent details with the client prior to the event.
  • Prepare Banquet Event Orders for all functions and group resumes if required as per hotel standards and follow all B.E.O. protocols.
  • Prepare and process correspondence, invoices, and contracts as per hotel standards.
  • Ensure post-event follow-up with the client.
  • Conduct and participate in site visits and planning meetings with prospective clients when required.
  • Provide any assistance possible to ensure the smooth operation and success of all events to ensure maximum guest satisfaction.
  • Know all relevant policies including menus and pricing, deposits, cancellation fees, service charge, guarantee, payment, shipping, and receiving procedures.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience:

  • Minimum three years of previous hotel sales management experience.
  • Experience in budgeting.
  • Previous experience in working with the local and national markets.
  • Event Services experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Proven success in working independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals and meet project deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of hotel/resort operations.
  • Effectively understand, interpret, and prepare contracts.
  • Must be competent in computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database). Background in automated sales office systems.
  • Must be service-oriented to guests, potential guests, and fellow team members.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position supervises the Account Manager.
