Club Macanudo, the world's most recognized luxury cigar bar and restaurant, has an opening for full or part time Servers to work various shifts at our location on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Ideally, you will be experienced, personable yet professional, and welcoming to our loyal patrons and frequent VIP/celebrity guests. We're looking for a flexible schedule availability. Club Macanudo is a smoking environment, so as our Server you will routinely encounter cigar smokers in the course of your work. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Acknowledge, welcome, and seat all guests
- Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings
- Move and arrange tables, chairs, and place settings as required; organize seating for groups with special needs
- Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety, and well-being of guests
- Answer telephone clearly using appropriate etiquette; coordinate and record guest reservations; respond to inquiries
- Deliver patrons' cigar orders to table
- Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns and requests of guests and coworkers
- Excellent attendance and punctuality is required
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by manager on duty
JOB REQUIREMENTS As our ideal candidate, you will have the following:
- Prior client-facing hospitality experience in an upscale restaurant is preferred
- Working knowledge of restaurant operations
- Ability to operate computer equipment and the reservations system
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage stress while maintaining a welcoming and friendly yet professionally appropriate demeanor
- Positive can do attitude, team player orientation, and commitment to superb customer service
- Neat, well-groomed appearance and outgoing personality
- Ability to stand and walk for duration of the shift
- Ability to work in a smoking environment
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to work weekends
WORK ENVIRONMENT In this job you will be working near patrons and co-workers. The noise level in the work environment occasionally may be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, burns, slipping, tripping, lifting/carrying, and exposure to tobacco smoke.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Walk/stand during entire shift
- Be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs
- Be able to manipulate fingers, hands and arms to serve, carry, pour, and wipe
- Be able to hear and talk
- Be able to properly operate Club computer and printer
- Good close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus between the two
- Incumbent will routinely be working in the presence of patrons smoking cigars
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK The successful candidate may be required to workdays, nights, and/or weekend work. Occasional overtime hours are likely. Candidates must be legally authorized to work for any U.S. employer on a full-time basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience as a host/hostess in an upscale restaurant
