The Engineering Technician is a recent college graduate from an accredited EAC/ABET engineering program with 0-5 years of experience. This individual will assist in the review of various development projects. This individual will also assist with the inspection of these development projects. These reviews and inspections will focus on roads, curbing, sidewalk, underground utilities, recreational facilities, commercial sites and parking facilities. This candidate will work in the Lakewood, NJ office and its surrounding areas.PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Prepare cost estimates for a variety of commercial and residential developments for the purpose of bonding.
  • Review grading plans for individual homes.
  • Inspect various improvements including but not limited to roads, underground utilities, curbing, sidewalk and parking facilities.
  • Develop or implement engineering solutions to assist clients with improving and maintaining their infrastructure.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
  • Support of the field activities of project construction inspection staff, relating to design criteria, value engineering or changing site conditions.
  • Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems or structures (as appropriate) using computer assisted design or drawing tools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make public presentations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions to present to design team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of computer aided design software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Teams
  • Ability to work in groups as well as individually.
  • CADD Experience a Plus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
