SUMMARY:The Adaptive Physical Education Teacher is responsible for creating and conductingdevelopmentally appropriate adaptive physical education activities for preschool students withdevelopmental disabilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The duties and responsibilities of the Adaptive Physical Education Teacher include, but are notlimited to the following: Creates and conducts developmentally appropriate adaptive physical education activities forpreschool students with developmental disabilities. Collaborates with classroom and therapy staff to provide goal-directed instruction in thecontext of a group gross motor activity. Ensures that services are provided to students with the utmost regard for their personaldignity, privacy, and confidentiality. Follows established gym activity schedule. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized gym. Practices Universal Precautions at all times. Attends required staff meetings. Participates in activities of professional development with school staff. Performs other related duties as requested by the program director.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in education, Special Education, or Early Childhood Special Education. At least 2 years of experience working with students with disabilities as an AdaptivePhysical Education Teacher.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpretreports and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries, concerns or complaints fromemployees and customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practicalsituations.
